THE number of new Covid-19 cases recorded in the BCP Council area stands at 26, according to the latest government update.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows the cases were recorded in 24-hours up to 7.15pm on Wednesday, March 3.

This brings the total number of cases recorded in the BCP area since the start of the pandemic to 24,713.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset Council area 18 cases have been reported in the same period 24-hour period up until March 3.

Since last March, when the pandemic began, 11,285 cases have been confirmed in th eDorset Council area.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 272, with a rate of 68.8 per 100,000 people. In Dorset 204 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 53.9.

In the New Forest there were five new cases. The total in the district since the pandemic started is 5,922. A total of 87 cases have been seen in the past seven days and the case rate is 48.3.
