BOURNEMOUTH has been named as one of the rainiest places to live in the UK. 

British weather is known for being unpredictable but one thing you can always expect is rain.

The South West has been named as the rainiest region with five of the top 20 towns being from this area. 

Analysts at ShowersToYou.co.uk scraped Met Office Data and revealed the rainiest (and dryest) towns in the UK. 

Surprisingly, Bournemouth was named among the top 15 rainiest places, with the same amount of rainfall as Sheffield and Liverpool. 

The study shows that Bournemouth has an average of 120.5 rainy days per year and October has been named as our rainiest month.

Taking the lead and upholding Wales' bad weather reputation with an average of 96mm of rain each month is Cardiff. People living here can expect an average of 12 days of rain each month with their heaviest month of downpour being December (125 mm).

Following behind is Glasgow with an average of 94mm of rain monthly. If you’re considering moving here, you can expect it to rain for an average of 14 days each month, the most out of all UK cities.

In third place is Huddersfield with 86 mm of rainfall on average every month. Residents can expect it to rain for at least 13 days each month, with the highest average rainfall in December reaching 114mm.

Plymouth takes fourth place with 84mm of rain expected to fall each month. When it comes to the number of rainy days, Showerstoyou.co.uk found 11 to be the monthly average.

Taking fifth place is Swansea, where rainfall reaches a monthly average of 84mm. Residents have it hardest in October with rainfall amassing to 123mm on average.
