As drinkers prepare to stomach a hike in the cost of a pint, due to pubs and breweries facing an increase of thousands in their energy bills, we look back at some of our favourite boozers we'd love to still be open.
It comes as the heads of six of the UK’s biggest pub and brewing companies have signed an open letter to the Government demanding that they act in order to avoid “real and serious irreversible” damage to the sector.

The Ragged Cat
The Ragged Cat was once located at 534-536 Christchurch Road.
The pub, originally called the Palmerston Arms, is now a supermarket.

The Horse and Jockey
The Horse and Jockey had a history dating back to 1841 but closed its doors for the last time in 2017.
The watering hole was called The Smoking Outlaw for a stint before its closure and recent demolition.

Gander on the Green
Gander on the Green stood on the site of the rebuilt former Metropole Hotel and became The Christopher Creeke after being purchased by JD Wetherspoon in 2009.
The pub was a favourite of bikers and rock music fans.
It has now closed entirely.

The Thatched House
The Thatched House was located on East Howe Lane.
The watering hole closed in 2008 and the site is now residential.

Daisy O'Briens
Daisy O'Briens could once be found at 77 Old Christchurch Road.
This town centre Irish themed bar has now been shut for five years and turned into a shop.

The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak, once situated on Wimborne Road.
The pub was demolished in 2014 to make way for a new Tesco store.

The Saxon King
The Saxon King was once located on Broadway.
The watering hole closed in 1992 and was demolished to make way for housing.

The Osprey
The Osprey could once be found in Poole Lane.
The pub was closed in the 1990s and swept away to clear space for housing.

The Dolphin
The Dolphin was situated on Holdenhurst Road.
The pub was closed in August 2011 and has since been converted into a Tesco Express.

The Portman Hotel
The Portman Hotel was located on Ashley Road.
The watering hole was closed in 2017 and redeveloped as apartments.
