A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an alleged assault on a pregnant woman, who went onto lose her unborn baby.
The reported victim, who was 29 weeks pregnant at the time, was taken to hospital with a head injury.
It was found her baby had died within the womb.
Dorset Police were called to the Addison Close area in Gillingham on 12.05am, Saturday, May 30, last year, after receiving reports of a woman found with a head injury.
A 34-year-old local man was arrested. He was issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates's Court on Friday, February 26, for offences of child destruction and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, March 12.
