BOURNEMOUTH has been found to be one of the most expensive locations in the UK to upsize your home, new research suggests.

The conveyancing comparison experts at Compare My Move have looked at data from house price sales across the country, revealing the locations where it is cheapest (and most expensive) to upsize.

The Dorset town ranked as the sixth most expensive place to upsize, setting people back around £131,916 on average.

Bournemouth ranked in the top five most expensive place to upsize from a one-bed to a two-bed house, as well as from a from a one-bed to a two-bed house, at an average cost of £106,119 and £77,971 respectively.

Unsurprisingly, London tops the list for the most expensive place to upsize your home.

With an average cost of a huge £380,115, it is almost double that of Brighton and Hove, who were found to be the second most expensive location to upsize, costing £199,608 on average.

The south coast city is also the most expensive place in the UK to upsize from a one-bed (£172,917) to a two-bed house (£384,121), with a price difference of £211,204 on average.

Stoke-on-Trent completed the top three most expensive place to upsize, with an average cost of £185,347 to buy a bigger home.

On the other end of the spectrum, Aberdeen tops the list for best average cost to upsize your home in the UK, with an average cost of £41,406 to upsize.
