A MOTORIST got behind the wheel and was clocked by police driving nearly 100mph on the A31.

Dorset Police pulled over three drivers on the A31, between Ashley Heath and St Leonards, travelling well over the speed limits, including a motorist travelling 99mph in a 70mph zone as well as other drivers travelling at 82mph and 76 mph in a 50mph zone.

The speeders were caught by the police's No Excuse team, which were patrolling the east Dorset area after assisting fellow officers in Bournemouth.

A police spokesman said: "With the speeding offences, we can confirm during the afternoon and evening of February 20 officers from the No Excuse team carried out speed checks on the A31 between Ashley Heath and St Leonards.

"Those reported for speeding offences included a motorist travelling at 99mph in a 70mph zone as well as drivers travelling at 82mph and 76 mph respectively in a 50mph zone.
