COASTGUARD and lifeboat crews were called out to reports of a red flare sighting.
Poole RNLI volunteers and Poole Coastguard Rescue Team responded to multiple reports on Sunday night in the area of Lytchett Bay
A spokesperson for Poole RNLI said: "The D Class was soon away and arrived on scene off Rockley then began to search the Lytchett Bay area, Poole Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked, they headed to Rockley Point.
"The lifeboat volunteers conducted an extensive search, conditions were good, with excellent visibility and a north easterly breeze.
"Nothing untoward was found by the lifeboat volunteers and UK Coastguard requested that the lifeboat stand down and return to station."
