A wonderful selection of photographs of Ringwood town and shops taken by Grahame Austin and part of a collection we hold in the Daily Echo archives. The negatives have no date on them but we believe they were taken circa 1970.

For centuries Ringwood has been the traditional market town of the New Forest with its market charter dating back to 1226 and in the photos, you can see the bustling market on Market Place circa 1970.

Frampton and Son Ltd has been supplying pet and gardening supplies since 1835, with their store occupying a place on the High Street since 1905.  The store closed in 1911 and was replaced by a Cafe bar & Kitchen still keeping the name Framptons.
