A BEACH hut at the exclusive Mudeford Sandbank is currently on the market for £325,000.

The coveted wooden hut is being sold for the same price as a five-bedroom house in Rotherham.

It first appeared on property site Rightmove in December but was removed from the market for a while before recently coming back on.

Situated towards the Hengistbury Head side of the spit is in a prime location with views over the hardour and of the beach.

The original hut was replaced with something more modern in recent years and now has the benefit of a first floor sleeping loft.

Bournemouth Echo:

Surprisingly spacious the beach hut can sleep up to seven people and has a lounging area and kitchen.

The seating converts into a double and single bed space, this in turn leads onto the decked terrace.

Unlike many (considerably cheaper) beach huts this one also has 12 volt power for its fridge and lighting.

This natural beauty spot is home to some of the world's most expensive beach huts which made it the target of vandals in an arson attack at the start of February.

On the market with Denisons estate agents, they commented: "Our clients are sympathetic of the fact that the fire was started by vandals and this beach hut was not affected by the fire in any way."

Bournemouth Echo:

Cars are banned from the spit which has to be reached by land train, ferry or on foot.

Its isolated position is what attracts wealthy people to buy the cabins which can sleep up to seven people each.

Denisons added that they expect the beach hut to "sell quickly" after lockdown.

The lockdown restrictions are expected to ease on 17 May allowing people to travel across the country again.

As well as the eye-watering purchase price, the owners have to pay annual rates to Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council of about £4,500 a year.

Owners can only sleep in the huts from March to October but can visit any time of year.
