CRIMINALS claiming to be scrap dealers are committing offences in other people's names.
Offenders are turning up unannounced and offering to buy old cars for cash.
A spokesman for Purbeck Police said: "Had someone turn up to your house and tell you they are interested in buying your car? Seem odd or a bit random?
"They may say they are scrap dealers looking for old cars and can pay you cash. What they won’t tell you is that they won’t register it in their name and will use it in crime."
A vehicle was seized which had been used in a rural burglary.
