ARE WE nearly there yet? In the past year our attention has been diverted – first by the amalgamation of our three towns and then by the Covid pandemic – but the threat of climate crisis doesn’t go away.

It threatens our livelihoods, our wildlife and our children’s future.

Many of us have taken steps in our homes and lifestyles to reduce our carbon footprints but there’s only so much that individuals can do.

We rely on governments – local and national – to take action too. So what has our BCP Council done?

Well they declared a Climate and Ecological Emergency in July 2019 and now finally produced a draft action plan and are asking for our opinions in a survey before they act on it.

I urge everyone who cares about life on earth – please respond to this survey before the deadline of March 1 and ask the Council to hurry up.

Every week, every month, every year we delay makes the task of keeping the world safe harder.
