FEWER than 170 coronavirus cases were confirmed across Dorset over the last 24 hours.

Figures released by the government shows 169 cases were recorded in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Thursday.

The BCP Council area recorded 101 cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 23,616.

In the seven days leading up to February 6, the latest rolling seven-day period, 989 cases were confirmed, giving a rolling infection rate of 250.2 per 100,000 people.

The Dorset Council area recorded 68 new cases, taking the total to 10,534.

The rolling rate stood at 146.6 per 100,000 after 555 cases were confirmed in a week.

Elsewhere, 19 cases were recorded in the new Forest, taking the total to 5,591.

The rolling rate was 117.2 per 100,000 after 211 cases were recorded in the lead up to February 6.
