A BOURNEMOUTH-based forecaster has explained why Dorset missed out on snow again this morning.
DorsetSnow said that on Saturday morning conditions had looked “very promising”, however the situation had changed by the afternoon with models showing a band of rain moving through the area faster than expected.
At the end of last week, Bournemouth, Swanage, Wimborne, Blandford and Ringwood had appeared to be in with the best chance of seeing snow today.
Speaking to the Echo on Sunday morning, DorsetSnow said: “We needed the rain band to come through after 4am for temperatures and dew points to be snow productive.
“Instead, it arrived way ahead of schedule at around midnight. Temperatures were around 4 to 5C and dew points not much lower.”

However, anyone still hoping to see snow this winter could still see some this week with those to the east of the county and even residents living in coastal areas in with the best chance, according to DorsetSnow.
As previously reported, the Met Office has issued a three-day snow and ice warning for the county between the early hours of Monday morning and around midday on Wednesday.

DorsetSnow said: “Any precipitation that falls in the next five days will be snow. Our best chance in the form of streamers, streamers form in east and the most well-formed showers could reach east Dorset (hence the Met office snow warning from Monday to Wednesday).
“Coastal and eastern areas of Dorset in with the best chance,” he added.
Last month east and north Dorset residents saw snow while those living in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole missed out.
The conurbation is still yet to see any accumulations of snow this winter.
