DORSET is becoming an increasingly more popular area to live in as people look for a change of scenery.

The county is full of unique places to live in, with plenty of stunning beauty spots, scenic villages, and commutable areas near larger towns and cities.

Zoopla has complied a list of the most expensive streets and areas to live in a number of Dorset towns, namely the areas with the highest average asking price for a house.

This list was calculated using Zoopla's pricing estimates, which takes both transactions and listing data into account.

Tom Parker, a consumer spokesman at Zoopla, said: “Dorset provides the ultimate in coastal living with its most expensive streets all enjoying stunning views over the rolling countryside or the sea.

“The most expensive streets include Old Coastguard Road, located in the Sandbanks, the area is famed as a millionaire’s playground and one of the most desirable addresses in the UK with many celebrity residents.”

Here are the most expensive streets in these Dorset towns, although some fall just outside the town. 

Beaminster - Whitcombe Road

The Zoopla estimate for homes in this area of Beaminster currently stands at £712,000 – almost double the average house value in Beaminster of £364,269.

Blandford Forum - Stoke Wake

Based near Blandford Forum, the average price for homes in this area is £1,082,000. In comparison to wider Blandford Forum, the average house value is £329,707.

Bournemouth - Little Forest Road          

The average price in the area of the popular seaside town stands at £1,600,000. The average house value in Bournemouth is £306,079.

Bridport - Coast Road, Burton Bradstock

Residents in and around Bridport and Burton Bradstock have been described as “very happy and friendly”, meaning you can easily settle in.

Burton Bradstock, which is outside of Bridport, is popular among residents and tourists for its stunning cliff and beach walks.

The Zoopla estimate for houses in Coast Road, Burton Bradstock currently stands at £1,237,000– triple the average house value in Bridport at £364,419.

Dorchester - West Walks

Dorset’s county town has seen a surge in interest from homebuyers in recent years.

The Zoopla estimate for a property in West Walks is £754,000. The average house value in Dorchester is £354,064.

Lyme Regis - Ware

Known as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’, the seafront town showcases the history and beauty of the county.

The scenic town has plenty to see and do, including the recently-restored Town Mill Artisan Quarter, with its working water wheel, Lyme Regis Micro Brewery, art galleries, pottery, and restaurants.

The Zoopla estimate for houses in Ware stands at £2,419,000 – several times higher than the average house value in the town, which is £354,064.

Gillingham - The Street, Stour Provost

Based near Gillingham, the Zoopla estimate for properties in this area is £919,000. In comparison to wider Gillingham, the average house value is £286,268.

Portland - Sidon Mews

Based just off Castle Road, this area of Portland has the highest valued homes on the island.

The Zoopla estimate for properties here is £377,000. The average house value of properties on Portland is £200,849.

Poole - Old Coastguard Road, Sandbanks

Situated on the South Dorset coast, it is popular among those who commute to Bournemouth and wider Dorset and is full of plenty of things to do.

It is no surprise to many that Old Coastguard Road in the Sandbanks area of Poole is the most expensive area to live within the town, with a Zoopla estimate at £2,794,000.

In comparison, the average house value in Poole is £368,627.

Shaftesbury - Motcombe Road

The average house value on this road currently stands at £1,193,657. The average house value in Shaftesbury according to Zoopla is £353,927.

Sherborne -  Bradford Road

The Zoopla estimate for homes in this area is £850,000 – more than double the average house value in the town, which stands at £368,231.

Swanage - Glebe Estate, Studland

Perfect for those who want a quieter life, Swanage is known for its stunning sea views, historic pier, and coastal walks.

The Zoopla estimate for houses in Glebe Estate in the Studland area is £1,542,000. The average house value in Swanage is £392,028

Wareham - Arne            

The Zoopla estimate for this village near Wareham is £1,246,000. The average house value in Wareham is £380,996.

Weymouth - Redcliff View

Given Weymouth is a stunning seaside location, has a number of excellent local restaurants and good schools, it is no wonder that people are interested in moving to Weymouth.

The most expensive place to live in Weymouth is the Redcliff View area, with the average price paid for houses in this area at £735,000.

This is more than double the average house value in Weymouth, which currently is £276,976.
