A NORTH Dorset road is currently closed due to an accident involving a HGV

The A357 has been shut between Sturminster Newton and the junction with the A3030, following the accident involving a lorry near the hamlet of Bagber.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 9.15pm on Thursday, February 4, to a report of a collision involving a lorry on the A3030 between Lydlinch and Sturminster Newton.

"Officers attended. There were no reports of any injuries. The local authority was made aware of mud on the road.

"The vehicle was unable to be recovered overnight. The road remains closed to allow for recovery of the vehicle and to clear the mud."

A Travel Dorset spokesman said: "Please find an alternative route, hopefully the vehicle will be recovered in the next two hours and we will be able to reopen the road back up."
