FIREFIGHTERS were called to Station Road in Poole after residents reported hearing a “loud bang” in the area.
Crew members from Westbourne fire station attended the scene at around 12.30pm on Thurdsay, February 4.
They found that an animal had strayed onto the railway line near Parkstone Station and had come into contact with the electrical line.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have urged people to stay vigilant when near active railway lines and have reiterated the dangers of trespassing in such areas.
In post on Twitter, the fire service said: “Westbourne fire station were sent to investigate a report of a loud bang in the area of Station Road in Poole.
“There was no fire but unfortunately a wild animal had come into contact with the electrified line.
“A good time to remind all about rail safety.”
