I was very sad to hear of the death of Ian Andrews recently.
I worked with Ian for over 30 years at Poole council and found him to be a very caring, kind and considerate man.
He was a devoted family man who also dedicated much of his life to Poole.
He was an active member of numerous community and town organisations covering history, arts, sports and benevolent interests.
Although not born in Poole, he became an expert on the history of the borough and was the Honorary Borough Archivist.
When he became town clerk in 1974, he was the youngest holder of that office in the country.
He will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but also by his many friends, past colleagues and acquaintances.
