A HOLIDAY park which has been in the same family for 72 years is on the market for nearly £3million.

Downton Holiday Park covers 3.6 acres near the beach at Milford-on-Sea in the New Forest.

It consists of 74 holiday park homes, 50 of which have private owners on 15-year licence agreements.

There is a games room and laundry and children’s play area as well as a detached four-bedroom owner for the owner or manager, with office, reception and detached garage.

The site is on the market through the estate agency Savills for a guide price of £2.9m.

Kay Griffiths, associate director in the leisure and trade team at Savills Oxford, said: “This is a rare opportunity to purchase a well-established business in a prime South Coast trading location.

“Holiday parks have proven incredibly resilient through the significant or disruption last year and is a sector that’s continuing to be on the radar for investors and owner operators,” she added.

Downton Holiday Park shares an access road with its neighbour, Shorefield Country Park.

It currently has a five-star rating on the review website Tripadvisor.

The park’s fees for the privately owned caravans are £3,779 a year from each, with the season running from March 1 to October 31. Owners can pay another £245 to use the park in November.

The 24 caravans owned by the park are rented out for between £200 per week for a two-bedroom home and £260 for a three-bedroom version in low season.

In high season, a two-bedroom unit costs £540 and a three-bedroom one £720 per week.

Savills is taking offers for the site until 12noon on Thursday, March 4.
