THE Dorset Neon Run is set to return to Poole Park this spring.

Organisers of the event, which raises funds for the Diverse Abilities charity, say they are working with BCP Council officials to ensure the run complies with Covid-19 regulations as they develop over the coming months.

They also say plans are in place should government restrictions tighten nearer the time of the run, which is set for Saturday, April 24.

The event is a five-kilometre evening fun run for participants to run, walk, dance, or jog around.

Participants are given a neon t-shirt, a glow in the dark pack consisting of glow sticks and face paints, and a fundraising pack.

Karen Hay, event manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “Dorset Neon Run is a really fun event and as it isn’t time chipped allows participants to run, jog, walk, or dance at their own pace.

"We are looking forward to a night of fundraising in real life after months of socialising online and it’s a great excuse to dress up in neon gear and face paint, while having a laugh with your mates.”

Entertainment and refreshments will be available on the night, and previous years have included radio DJs and 'Clubbercise' warm-up activities.

Early bird entries are now open for £10 per person.

An event spokesman said: "Participants are welcome to make a larger one-off donation in lieu of fundraising for the event.

"Diverse Abilities is working alongside BCP Council to ensure the event runs within Covid legislation as it develops over the coming months.

"There are also plans in place should government restrictions tighten nearer the time.

"Dorset Neon Run is open to anyone over the age of 12 and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Registration opens on the night from 8pm and the race will start at 9pm."
