WITH weather warnings in place across much of the country, the Daily Echo remembers when much of the New Forest fell victim to heavy flooding.
It was late 2000 and relentless rainfall in the region prompted the Environment Agency to issue flood warnings.
Flood black spots Lymington, Milford on Sea and Brockenhurst all had flood watches in operation.
The Forest area had become absolutely saturated and water levels were so high there was nowhere for the water to go.
Even more concerning was the situation in Christchurch, Ringwood and Fordingbridge which had all been affected by flooding caused when the River Avon burst its banks.
Around one hundred properties were subject to flooding and the A338 Ringwood to Salisbury Road was closed after being blocked by water.
