OVER 80s still waiting for the Covid vaccine are being asked to be patient and told their turn will come soon.

Despite some surgeries opening up the vaccination programme to over 70s, there are still many aged 80-plus who have not had their jabs.

The Hadleigh house surgery in Broadstone is one of four using the Hamworthy Club in Canford Magna as a vaccination site.

In a post on Facebook a spokesman said more than 1,200 vaccinations were administered there last week and even more will be done in the coming days.

Covid vaccinations begin at the BIC

"There are still many patients in the over-80’s cohort that are to be vaccinated" said a spokesman. "We are expecting a double delivery of vaccine this coming week and will therefore have six clinics running.

"Our staff have been busy phoning hundreds of patients to book them into these clinics. Once again, we ask that you please do not call the surgery about your Covid vaccination as it is important that we keep our lines available for our business as usual, and our unwell patients who are trying to reach us.

"We are working through all the eligible patients following the strict criteria we have been set, and will contact you as soon as we are able to offer you an appointment."
