A MAN has been charged with breaching the coronavirus regulations by allegedly refusing to wear a face covering at a Bournemouth supermarket.

Curtis Dean Lankstead, aged 33 and of Southcote Road, Bournemouth, is accused of committing the offence at Asda in St Paul’s Road, Bournemouth, on Friday, January 15.

Prosecutors allege that he entered the supermarket without a face covering, refused to wear one and refused to leave.

He has also been charged with assaulting a man by attempting to bite his hand and threatening to do so, as well as an accusation of damaging a custody holding cell at Bournemouth Police Station.

Lankstead appeared before magistrates in Poole on Saturday, January 16, where he entered not guilty pleas to all charges.

He was remanded on conditional bail, with his next hearing due to take place at the same court on Thursday, February 11.
