One of Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s most popular events returns with a digital twist to help raise money for local men’s health projects.

March for Men shines a spotlight on the tens of thousands of men’s health patients treated at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital every year.

Everyone is invited to walk, jog or run either 1km, 5km or 10km at a location of their choice, to help raise money to continue to enhance men’s health treatment and fund new equipment to better diagnose men’s health concerns.

Registration is now open for this year’s March for Men event! Participants can sign up to undertake their walk, jog or run between Friday 12 and Sunday 28 March.

Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s Events and Challenges Fundraiser, Yaluska Cox, said: ‘We are so pleased to announce the return of March for Men this year. Although it will be a little bit different to previous years, we are looking forward to seeing all our participants get their steps in to support men’s health projects.

‘It’s great to be able to give people the choice of where they can complete their walk or run. You could take a stroll down the beach or your local park, walk to work, or even complete your distance on a treadmill or by lapping your garden!’

Kevin Turner, Consultant Urological Surgeon, said: ‘Thousands of men from every part of our community are facing men’s health concerns such as prostate or testicular cancers. March for Men has helped us purchase vital equipment to better diagnose health concerns and improve treatments. We would not have been able to purchase technology such as the blue light camera we use to diagnose bladder cancer without March for Men.’

Since 2014, March for Men has raised in excess of £200,000 for men’s health treatment in our hospital.

Entry is £15 for adults (over-18s), £8 for ages 5-17, while under-5s go free. Entry includes a free T-shirt and participants will receive a medal upon completing their chosen distance! Register now at BHCharity.org/m4m/ or by calling the Charity Office on 0300 019 4060.
