A DRIVER who wrongly thought his mother-in-law had insured him on his car had the vehicle seized by police.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team stopped the Honda Civic during patrols on Friday night.
A spokesman said: "Is it politically correct to make mother-in-law jokes? I'll err on the side of caution, just in case.
"The driver of this Honda Civic left it up to his mother-in-law to insure it on his behalf believing she had put him down as a named driver. She hadn't. Vehicle seized and driver reported to court."

During the same patrol officers topped a white Range Rover which had no MOT or insurance.
The driver told police he may have cancelled his direct debit by mistake. The vehicle was seized and a fixed penalty issued.
Three further cars were seized for no insurance on the same evening.
