A PUB with its own version of Stonehenge and an onsite beauty salon has been praised by visitors, despite the challenges of running during a global health pandemic.
Operated by Ana and Dan King, The Stonehenge Inn in Durrington takes pride in offering "good value favourites", while being a "unique" establishment.
The Stonehenge Inn has been described by one customer as "a brilliant part of the community" that had "kept people going" during 2020, as part of the Journal website’s ‘pub of the week’ feature.
Nominators praised the watering hole and team for "turning it around" during the hardships and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
From "friendly, welcoming" staff to countless events, from taking pictures with the 'Stonehenge' model to melting marshmallows around the firepit, voters have shone a spotlight on several features of the pub which makes it so special.
One said: "[I am] just really impressed with the way this pub operates. Despite the impact of Covid-19, [the team] just reinvents themselves constantly.
"They have some fantastic locals, had lots of events pre-Covid, invest heavily in doing the pub up, support the military, welcome dogs, as well as serving a mean pint!"
The Mystic Beauty salon service and its very own Stonehenge model are just two of the reasons the pub is so unique, according to Dan.
"This is a very unique pub, no other pub has got its own Stonehenge. We like to keep the pub diverse and we'll work through all elements," Dan told the Journal.
Dan added it was "a privilege" to be commended by visitors. He said: "There have been so many positives while I've worked here, it's just exciting building all of these things and making this part of the community and where people want to visit.
"We offer good value favourites, the food you expect. It's the food that I know my kids and everyone would want to eat."
Adapting to living with the virus and restrictions in force, shepherd huts have been constructed outside the pub for 'staycations', a marquee and firepit was introduced, and a delivery service was launched which has now supplied around 700 roast dinners.
