A FURTHER four people that had tested positive for Covid-19 have died at Salisbury District Hospital.

This means 81 patients that had tested positive for the virus have now passed away at the hospital since the beginning of the pandemic.

Confirmed by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust today, January 2, the latest patients to pass away were three men - in their 60s, 70s and 80s - and a women in her 70s. All had underlying health conditions.

A spokesperson for the trust said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with all the families and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

"We currently have 58 in-patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 being cared for at the hospital."

Yesterday it was reported that a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s with underlying health conditions had passed away after testing positive for Covid-19.

The number of positive patients onsite is currently higher than during the first peak of the pandemic.

Visiting at the hospital remains suspended except for limited circumstances.
