AS WE will not be throwing our bathtubs off Poole Quay this year due to the pandemic, the Daily Echo takes a look back at pictures ten years years ago
Thousands of people welcomed in the New Year in 2011 at the wacky, wet and wonderful annual bath tub race along Poole Quay.
Crowds packed the Sea Music sculpture viewing platforms and lined the quayside several deep to watch some 20 teams ring in 2011 with the now time-honoured tradition.
In makeshift rafts, all incorporating bath tubs, the hardy teams paddled the course from outside the Custom House the Lord Nelson pub.
Their craft ranged from the deranged to the durable – the most substantial surely being the ATeam’s car-shaped craft – complete with spoiler.
