A MAN who was left fighting for life in hospital after a crash in North Dorset is due to appear in court in connection with the collision.
The 32-year-old man from Gosport is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 5, accused of driving without due care and attention.
He has been charged in relation with a crash which occurred on Sunday, June 21 on the B3092 near Gillingham.
Dorset Police received a report at 7.13pm of a collision on New Road – the B3092 – south of the town involving a purple Mini Cooper and a silver Land Rover Discovery.
The driver of the Mini sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. A force spokesman described his injuries as 'life-threatening' at the time.
No other occupants of the two vehicles sustained any serious injuries.
The fire and ambulance services also attended and a road closure was put in place by police to enable emergency services to deal with the incident and allow officers to investigate the scene.
