The Bournemouth housing market has seen a huge shift since the start of the global coronavirus pandemic.

During the first national lockdown in March the property market was put on ice for three months, but it opened again with the celebration of Rishi Sunak's announcement of a stamp duty tax holiday until March 31, 2021.

After months of staying inside we all had a lot of time to re-evaluate what we wanted from our homes.

As a result, people have been racing to get on the property ladder or put their home on the market and move elsewhere in Bournemouth

James Scollard from Clifftons Independent Estate Agents in Bournemouth gave us an insight into what people in the region are after when moving home since the first lockdown.

He said: "People were feeling claustrophobic and cramped together, whilst others after being stuck indoors, craved outside space. The result was a flurry, add to the mix a concession in Stamp Duty, we could barely keep up.

"Garden space was in high demand and sales were up 50% in October 2020, based on the same period last year.

"In the second lockdown, the Housing Minister advised for agents to stay open to allow the housing market to continue to operate, and its remained a busy period.”
