ITS BEGINNING to look a lot like Christmas in Highcliffe, as community groups and residents have helped to install the town’s Christmas adornments

Highcliffe are looking to add the final touches to their festive decorations once the restrictions for the UK’s second national lockdown are eased on Wednesday December 2.

The town’s Christmas tree arrived on the morning of Monday November 9 morning and was dressed in lights by BCP Council’s lighting engineers on the weekend of November 21 and 22.

Highcliffe Action Team’s Communications Officer Jane Dean said: “This year, we have been working alongside the BCP Council to install our festive lights.

“It’s had its challenges, but we are delighted with the impressive lights displayed at Tesco Express.

“The reaction from residents on our #LoveHighcliffe Facebook page has been most encouraging.

“One person came up to me and said, ‘I can see these from my window, it’s so nice to see while I'm at home all day’.”

The town’s well-attended Christmas lights switch on event was cancelled this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The easing of the lockdown restrictions will also mean that the Highcliffe Action Team will be able to continue filming the remaining shots for their Christmas video advert.

Having started filming for the video after the first lockdown, production was stopped due to the second lockdown on Thursday November 5.

Jane added: “Once lockdown ends this week, HAT will once again be working with South Snap Media to complete our festive video advert.

“Santa is happy to return to Highcliffe to ensure we get our final shots.

“We’ve already filmed our Castle, plus award winning beach, and nearby beach huts. We also have some stunning shots with real reindeer.

“This week we plan on featuring our high street shops and traders plus some nice moments around the village Christmas tree, with the Highcliffe Charity Players.”
