RATHER worrying to note that five former prime ministers are opposed to Boris Johnson's plans to cut Britain's foreign aid target, to help reduce the economic fall out of the pandemic.
Does this not illustrate how out of touch these former prime ministers are with the opinions of the ordinary person in the street.
If you held a referendum on this subject, I know full well that the majority would be in favour of cutting the foreign aid budget completely.
That said I'm sure the majority would want Britain to continue helping out in times of national disasters in other countries, this could still be done.
I do wonder why it is politicians and academics are continually so out of touch with the opinions of Joe public.
However, the latest news is that the government and Rishi Sunak have had the courage, in spite of the five former prime ministers' opinions to reduce the foreign aid budget, well this is a good start and I'm sure many people would agree with that.
