FANS have the opportunity to own their very won dugout, as Wimborne Town Football Club auctions off memorabilia from its old stadium.

The club will move into New Cuthbury next month, with the first fixture scheduled for December 12 against Beaconsfield.

Up for sale is items like the goals, the dugouts, the ‘Welcome to Cuthbury’ sign, the large ‘Wimborne Town FC’ letters behind the goal, among tens of others.

And clubhouse manager Clive Bailey said he couldn’t believe what people were bidding on.

Mr Bailey told the Daily Echo: “Yesterday I sold the centre spot to a great supporter.

“I had to go out and dig out the centre spot. We are selling all the signage like ‘players and officials only’ and ‘welcome to Cuthbury’.

“People are bidding on all of it. We have been going round the ground photographing all of these things.

“People want memorabilia of the ground and it has shocked me.”

The club is selling two goals, the dugouts, the ‘do not stand in this exit lane’ sign, the ‘home officials only’ sign, the ‘seating for directors and sponsors only’ sign, the barbecue hut, the ‘no bottles allowed in ground’ sign, the ‘do not stand in front of tea hut’ sign, the 50/50 draw sign and the ‘welcome to Cuthbury’ sign, among other items.

Mr Bailey said the ‘Welcome to Cuthbury’ sign was up to £80 already and he would be placing a bid on the gold ‘players and officials only’ sign.

He said he would clean it up and put it in his living room.

“We are looking to raise funds, it all helps towards the new furnishings which we have already bought,” he continued.

“We’re going to have quite a luxurious clubhouse, it’s just a shame fans won’t be allowed in it at our first game.”

The auctions can be found on the club’s Twitter page, Wimborne Town FC, with numbers to call to place a bid. It ends on Sunday.

Mr Bailey added: “We have sold the tractor and the floodlights as well, we are looking at several thousand of pounds.

“The club was formed in 1878, there is a lot of history. (New Cuthbury) is a big move, it is a move forward, you can’t stand in the way of progress.

“People just want something to remember old Cuthbury. One fan wanted to buy a brick slab out of the perimeter wall. He said ‘I have had so much pleasure in this ground’, he wanted memorabilia from where he used to lean.”
