CAMELOT, the Canadian company that runs our National Lottery, has just announced that sales for the last six months were the second best since the lottery began.
Which of course will be greeted with delight by the Ontario Teachers Union Pension Fund which rakes in a hefty slice of Camelot's profits.
Yes, we all know that Camelot ploughs millions into charitable causes here, but think how much more there would be if only our National Lottery were run by a British company.
I wonder just how many people are aware, that every tome they buy a ticket or a scratch card, they are contributing to a Canadian teachers pension fund?
It is little short of scandalous.
When the contract to run the National Lottery comes up for renewal in 2023, the government should ensure that it is handed to a British company, to ensure that all profits are invested here.
