AN UNINSURED driver told police his insurance was valid, before finding a series of emails from the company requesting payment.
A Mercedes driver was stopped in Charminster after Dorset Police No Excuse officers checked the database and found it had no insurance.
A spokesperson for the No Excuse team said: “When stopped the driver said he had insurance that expired tomorrow.
“We checked the database further and found a policy which should have run until end of December but was cancelled in August.
“We asked the driver to put the name of the insurance company into his emails to do a search. We saw six emails from this insurance company, five emails requesting payment to be made followed by a cancellation email for non-payment.
“Four of these emails had been previously read.
“The driver received a ticket for no insurance, six points and a £300 fine and the vehicle was seized.”
