DORSET brewery Hall & Woodhouse has secured a spot on Tesco shelves for a new beer.

The Badger Beers brewer’s Twice Tangled IPA takes its inspiration from the popular ale Tanglefoot, which was first crafted in the 1980s.

It is described as a “malty IPA with hints of lemon”.

Toby Heasman, head brewer at the Blandford brewery, said: “Twice Tangled is an outstanding beer, which is right on cue by bridging the craft market and the traditional ale market. It has a great refreshing hop character from the Centennial, Amarillo and WGV hops with a rich malt character from the ale, crystal and Munich malts.

“Twice Tangled has received really positive feedback from the drinkers that have sampled it, and the bottle really stands out on the shelf, reflecting the beer’s style.”

Hall & Woodhouse 'ready to tough it out' over 'hard' winter

Hannah Farrington, Tesco’s local buyer for England, said: “We’re always proud to work with our local suppliers, and this new line further strengthens the range of products from Hall & Woodhouse that we can offer Tesco shoppers.”

Hall & Woodhouse recently had its best year ever at the 2020 World Beer Awards, winning five trophies, with Badger Twice Tangled awarded a silver place. Badger Golden Champion received country winner and Badger Fursty Ferret, the Blandford Fly and the Cranborne Poacher were all awarded Bronze in their respective categories.

Hall & Woodhouse, a family brewery since 1777, employs more than 200 people at Blandford and 1,500 across its managed pubs.

It has three other bottled beers at Tesco stores – Badger Golden Champion, Badger Fursty Ferret, and Badger the Blandford Fly Ale.
