MORE than 180 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 182 cases were confirmed in Dorset in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on November 20.

123 of those cases came in the BCP Council area, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 6,639 cases.

In the seven days leading up to November 5, 892 cases were confirmed, giving an infection rate of 225.6 per 100,000 of the population.

In the Dorset Council area, 59 cases were confirmed, taking the total to 2,957 since the start of the pandemic.

411 cases were confirmed in the week leading up to November 15, a rate of 108.6 per 100,000.

Elsewhere, 41 cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 1,718.

In the seven days leading up to November 15, 252 cases were confirmed, an infection rate of 139.9 per 100,000 people.
