A SECONDARY school is closed to all pupils today after a gas leak left it with no heating or hot water.
Parents and carers of pupils at Queen Elizabeth's School in Wimborne have been notified by head teacher Katie Boyes, who said she hopes to reopen the school tomorrow.
In an email to parents she said: "There has been a local gas leak and as a result the gas supply to school has been temporarily stopped.
"The lack of gas means that we are unable to supply heating, hot water or run the air handling system which provides the ventilation to the building. As a result the school is unable to open to students."
She said the school is working with contractors to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and said lessons will be available online.
She added: "Closure of the school is always a last resort and this is especially true given the current situation with regards to covid. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
