A MAN from Winkton has braved the shave to raise over £2,500 for the Jigsaw unit at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Bill Donoghue, well-known in the Christchurch area for his seriously unkempt hair, had his head shaved but his partner Emma Lovell on Saturday November 14.
After having five close female friends develop cancer in the last five years, Bill decided to do what he could to raise money for the cause.
Speaking after his haircut, Bill said: “It felt a bit draughty at first, but now I don't have to bother about keeping my hair looking good.”
Bill’s partner Emma set to work at midday, shearing off the locks, before performing a very close shave to show a bald scalp for the first time in his life.
The £2,755 raised by Bill, who works at Elkins Boatyard in Christchurch,
will go towards the Jigsaw unit, a day unit for chemotherapy and supportive treatments for patients with haematological and oncological conditions and helped support all of Bill’s friends.
