MORE than 180 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on December 12, 188 people tested positive for the virus in Dorset.

114 of those cases came in the BCP Council area, taking the total for the council area to 5,234 cases since the start of the pandemic.

In the seven days leading up to November 8, 864 people tested positive, giving a rolling infection rate of 218.6 per 100,000 of the population.

In the Dorset Council area, 74 people tested positive in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 2,651.

378 cases were confirmed in the seven days leading up to November 8, giving a rolling rate of 99.9 per 100,000.

Elsewhere, 40 people tested positive in the New Forest, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 1,469.

In the seven days leading up to November 8, 169 cases were confirmed, a rolling rate of 93.9 per 100,000 people.

Yesterday, 157 cases were confirmed in Dorset.
