A STUDENT from Twynham School is self-isolating after returning a positive test for coronavirus.

In a letter sent to parents, headteacher Jy Taylor confirmed the year 13 pupil and all close contacts were self-isolating after the positive test.

The letter said: “I am writing to advise you that we have been informed of a single confirmed case of Covid in one of our students in a Year 13 bubble.

“The affected student has not attended school since Thursday November 5 and all close contacts who are required to isolate have been informed.

“We have engaged with Public Health England and Public Health Dorset and we are working closely with them, including following their procedures and advice to identify specific risks and manage this situation. We will continue to monitor and review this situation.

“Due to the extensive measures that we already implemented upon re-opening the school, including the strict use of seating plans, the only additional measure is for a further group of close contacts to self-isolate for 14 days.”
