A LOVER of classic and rare cars has come full circle by purchasing a classic convertible car - something he has not owned since he was 21.

Peter Holloway from Verwood has been interested and surrounded by cars since he was a child in the 1960s, thanks to the influence of his father and grandfather.

He started collecting classic cars when he was 21 and since then, he has always owned two cars.

Now, Peter is the proud owner of a 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible.

He said: "I bought the 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible in 2018 after selling my Rolls-Royce. I decided I wanted a convertible again as I haven’t had one since I was 21 years old. I said to my partner about changing my Rolls Royce, especially as I wanted a convertible.

"One day I came out of a garden centre after having a coffee and was inspired by the Jaguar XK8 I saw.

"There are so many cars that I really like, but I had completely forgotten about this Jag."

This particular car is modelled on the Jaguar E-Type and for Peter, is "a very nice car."

Peter typically takes the car out for a spin in the summer months so he can make full use of the convertible roof, but he also enjoys taking it out on sunny autumn days.

However, he has been unable to take it out as often as he would like due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

He said: "I started the 'Classic Cars On The Prom Bournemouth home of the pre August 1983 vehicles' group with my friend last year. The first year was good, but since March this year, I have been unable to organise events due to the pandemic.

"I also belong to a couple of Jaguar car groups, and we usually tend to meet with people in the local area and drive to places such as the New Forest. We love to go out and show off our cars as we’re so proud of them. "
