BEHAVE yourselves tonight - that's the message to residents on the eve of the second national lockdown.
BCP Council has urged people to act responsibly and follow public health advice in the last few hours before lockdown begins.
Town centres are expected to be busy as people head to bars and restaurants for the evening.
And the council has warned enforcement will be carried out where necessary to ensure that public safety is maintained.
Councillor May Haines, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said: “Whilst we appreciate some residents may wish to go out before the national lockdown begins, we would strongly encourage you to consider if that trip is necessary.
"If we are all careful now and stay at home and help control the virus, it is possible we can look forward to returning to a new normal sooner and are more likely to be able to enjoy Christmas and New Year with our loved ones.
“If you choose to go out, we would urge you to act responsibly and adhere to social distancing at all times, wear a face covering and wash hands regularly. We would encourage you to not linger or gather after 10pm and make your way home promptly, to help reduce the risk.”
The council’s Covid Marshalls and Environmental Health Officers will be out and about protect the public and control the virus.
The council has asked people to download the NHS covid app and check in, only visit covid-safe premises, plan your journey home and observe social distancing requirements.
