NEARLY 200 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Dorset in the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 193 people tested positive in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on October 30.

125 of these cases came in the BCP Council area, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 3,739.

In the seven days leading up to October 25, 821 people tested positive in BCP, a rolling infection rate of 207.7 per 100,000.

In the Dorset Council area, 68 people tested positive in the last 24 hours, taking the total top 1,959.

418 cases were recorded in the seven days leading up to October 25, a rolling rate of 110.4 per 100,000.

Elsewhere, in the New Forest, 17 people tested positive, taking the total to 1,133.

In the seven days leading up to October 25, 194 cases were recorded, a rolling rate of 107.7 per 100,000 people.
