AN uninsured driver has had his car seized - but his friend gave him a lift back to London.

Dorset Police No Excuse Team stopped the Mercedes driver in Blandford yesterday and issued him a Section 59 notice for driving in an anti-social, inconsiderate manner.

On their way back to Poole on the A350, the No Excuse Team discovered the driver was uninsured and had been uninsured for 18 months.

A spokesman for the No Excuse Team said: "The driver has been out of the country and seemed shocked when we informed him he was also recorded as a disqualified driver.

"He had driven from London today and to add to his woes the MOT had also expired in August.

"The vehicle has been seized and the driver has been reported to court.

"On a brighter note his friend wasn't far and he was able to collect him and take him back to London. No excuse."
