MORE than 160 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data from the government shows 166 people tested positive in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on October 26.

103 of these cases came in the BCP Council area, meaning 3,266 people have tested positive since the start of the pandemic.

In the seven days leading up to October 19, the latest where data is available, the rolling rate of the virus in the BCP Council area was 154.8 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, 63 people tested positive, taking the total to 1,733.

The rolling rate was 79.8 per 100,000.

Elsewhere, in the New Forest, 29 people tested positive, meaning the total stood at 1,073.

The rolling rate in the New Forest was 75.5 per 100,000 people.
