A BRADFORD cricket programme designed to recruit 2,000 women from South Asian backgrounds into volunteering roles has been announced as a finalist for this year’s UK Coaching Awards.

The showpiece event will be held virtually on Thursday, December 3, to reward the work coaches make in transforming lives in communities.

The Dream Big Desi Women project, which runs in Bradford and other cities, has been nominated for the Transforming Coaching Award, for its success in empowering women to join the coaching pathway.

Zahra Khamisa, ECB City Programme Executive, said: “This award allows us to inspire more women and girls from diverse communities to pick up a bat and ball and get involved in cricket.”
