Over 200 people have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus across the county in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest data published on the government website, some 204 new cases were recorded across Dorset, with 133 in the BCP Council area, leading up to 4.11pm on Sunday, October 25.

This brings the total number of cases in the council area to 3,163.

There are 681 cases of coronavirus reported in the most recent seven-day period in the BCP Council area, with an infection rate per 100,000 people is now at 172.3.

Meanwhile in Dorset, 71 new cases have been reported, increasing the overall total to 1,665.

The Dorset Council area now has 328 current cases of Covid-19 and an infection rate of 86.1.

Elsewhere, the New Forest have had a further 27 new cases bringing the area’s passed 1,000 at 1,008.

The area has now recorded 155 cases have been reported in the last week, meaning the infection rate to lies at 86.1.

A further 76 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 31,819.

Patients were aged between 43 and 100 years old. All except three, aged between 71 and 83, had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from August 28 to October 24, 2020, with the majority being on or after Wednesday October 21.
