"The college remains open and we are confident that our established systems of control are sufficiently robust in design to limit the spread of the virus in line with government guidelines.

"It remains critical that students consistently adhere to covid-safe hygiene practices and continue to stay in class bubbles, avoid mixing of bubbles and maintain a two-metre distance from other students in classrooms wherever possible unless additional PPE is used."

The college has deployed a number of social distancing measures to curb any spread of coronavirus, which include keeping two metres apart, washing their hands and installation of one-way systems.

Weymouth College has also recommended that face coverings should be worn by staff, students and visitors in all communal areas of the college – including corridors, canteen areas, and reception.

Colleges and schools have advised parents and carers that if their child develops symptoms of Covid-19, he or she must be tested via the NHS online portal or by calling 119. The household should also isolate until they receive the test results giving the all-clear.
