BOSSES of a Bournemouth pub have declared a zero tolerance policy after staff suffered abuse when imposing coronavirus restrictions.

Staff at the Fiveways in Charminster have been abused when asking people to leave in time for the 10pm curfew or wear their masks.

Now managers have warned people they will be asked to leave unless they can behave themselves.

In a post on social media they said: "This is a post we didn't want to write but unfortunately it has come to that point. Since the 10pm curfew was announced everyone is very annoyed and frustrated and we completely understand that.

"However on numerous occasions since the curfew was introduced, our staff have been spoken to and treated with a lot of disrespect when asking people to leave before 10pm, or asking people to wear their mask whilst standing up or just in general. We will not stand for this.

"Please remember this is not our decision and we are following government guidelines, if we do not abide then we will be fined and so will you."

The post went on: "You have been warned. We like to think that this is a family friendly pub. We don't want people resorting to this and ruining the night for everyone else. Don't be that person."

They also stressed that staff are under increasing pressure as they fear for their jobs if pubs are asked to close again or if further restrictions are imposed.

"They are doing their best to cope with the situation at hand so treat them with the respect they deserve."
