IF you like “weird and wonderful” cars and love your coffee, Ashley Automotive in Wallisdown is the place to go.
Ryan Lockett who owns Ashley Automotive, opened the eponymous coffee shop, Lockett Fuel at the height of the pandemic.
And told the Bournemouth Echo that his timing was “right.”
“ I basically sell beautiful and unusual cars that needed to be on show. After a good summer of trading I decided to expand and what better way for people to see what i have to offer than in a coffee shop. With my sister on furlough we set about launching a family run coffee shop, it all came about at the right time.
“Im a designer by trade and wanted to create a brand that worked with my passion for weird and wonderful cars. I love the fact the coffee shop and cars showroom concept works so well together and the phenomenal feedback we have received from customers and social medial reaffirms it.
“Because I deal in the unusual, most of my customers are people with money and looking for a toy or a weekend car. There were lots of people sat at home bored with expendable cash burning a hole in their pockets. Then there was lots of people that had bounce back loans coming to buy the car they always dreamed of. Don’t get me wrong, there was times where i doubted it, but staying consistent was the key.”
Ryan has transformed the old Kwik-Fit building on Wallisdown Road. “The building was quite rundown and didn’t stand out, now with my huge signage, a lick of paint and some good branding, you can’t miss it.”
Ashley Automotive is the third generation car dealer and sells cars and bikes in what Ryan describes as the “weird and the wonderful.”
Lockett Fuel Coffee and Cars is open seven days a week from 8am Monday to Saturday and 9am on Sunday.
The coffee shop serves top quality brands including Bad Hand Coffee, Jimmys Iced Coffee, SoCo Brownies, Katies Food Co Banana Crisps, LVE CBD Water to name but a few.
Ryan added: “All our sandwiches, toasties and wraps are made fresh to order and we even cater for Vegans.
“We will also be offering Jacket Potatoes when the weather really gets cold. If you are into your cars and like coffee, come and check us out.”
